First weeks - My first trip to see the labrador retriever puppies

When I first got a chance to drive over to see the puppies I would be getting, my initial intention was to pick only one.  My coworkers all piled into my car and we took the five minute drive to see them.

The litter consisted of 11 labrador retrievers, with one of those 11 dying shortly after birth. I believe there were 6 males and 4 females, 4 black labradors retrievers, 5 chocolate labrador retrievers, and one golden lab.  The color, from what I read, is either black or chocolate, with any variations being the presence of a recessive gene.  I've heard of white ones before too, but the so called breed standards don't allow for that.  Who cares though right?

They still had their eyes closed when I saw them.  I was given the biggest male in the group, a darker chocolate than the others.  I knew when I picked him up I wanted the big one.  Other people that saw them ended up calling him 'Bear' because he was so much bigger than the others.  In fact thats what my father in law said he looked like when we did finally bring them home.  My wife decided to call him Charlie. I couldn't think of any better names, so it stuck.  (My idea was either Sancho Panza (after Don Quixote's sidekick) or Thor Thunderdog....but Kelly said that was stupid)
